A joint NSS/PHS project

Non-urgent advice: GP In-Hours – Activity Recording Guidance and In-practice dashboard rollout

The GP In-Hours Activity project was initiated in 2021 to help practices improve the consistency of recording patient encounters, to allow for better reporting and understanding of activity levels locally and nationally.

This website has been setup to provide users with key documentation and information related to the rollout of the new patient encounter recording guidance for both EMIS and VISION clinical systems. It also provides supporting documentation for the new in-practice activity dashboard rolling out to practices from April 2023.

The project team began collecting aggregate data from practices in December 2021 and a national dashboard of activity data has been developed and published (from Dec 22) by Public Health Scotland to illustrate the type of analyses possible. The data is considered at health board level and is published as experimental data given the known data quality issues.

A mailbox (NSS.GPactivity@nhs.scot) is available to provide feedback on these products, suggest improvements, and ask any further questions.
